Index Sync Group/Selection Sync (Index)

, , , ,

Index Sync Group enables you to link multiple Content Controls together. If an answer is made in one Content Control in a group, all the other items in the group will update accordingly.

An example is a Select Paragraph that prompts the user to choose between a Regulated or Unregulated Loan. If they choose Regulated, you want a number of other Select Paragraph controls to automatically select an equivalent option to match.

You can sync the following Content Controls together. This means if one of the grouped contents controls has a selection made, any other controls in that group will automatically be updated with corresponding data. You can index sync the following automation features:

  • Dropdown
  • Combo
  • Select Paragraph

An Index Sync Group must contain the same amount of items for each control. For example, when linking two Dropdown controls together into the one Index Sync Group, ensure that both controls have the same number of options available in the dropdown. The items for each control must also be in the same order across each automation feature.

To configure a Content Control to be part of an Index Sync Group, simply enter a value into the Index Sync Group box in the Add/Edit Controls dialog box. Ensure that all Content Controls that form part of the sync group, have the same value in the Index Sync Group box.

Selection Sync (Index) is an alternative method to setting up a sync. Selection Sync (Index) is accessed via the Groups dialog. However the same rules above still apply when creating a Selection Sync (Index).

Selection Sync (Index) allows the editor to easily view all items associated with an existing sync (using the dropdown on the Group Name box, double click available controls to add to the group and then select the Update button.

Selection Sync (Index) also allows for a new sync to be created by adding a new group name in the Group name box and items (available controls) added to that sync group and then select the Create button . Lastly, if the sync items are writeback and the naming convention of the available controls is consistent, the same group sync can used across multiple DocAssist precedents.
